The EYM Advocate focuses on "Preventative Advocacy," in which we try and reach young black men before they have been subjected to the penal system or have dropped out of school, in order to circumvent these occurrences. This does not mean that we don't work with youth who have had judicial issues, but the goal is to reach them before then. EYM advocates for the increase of black male mentors, black male schoolteachers, and proactive black fathers.

EYM is currently working with Big Brother Big Sisters of Metro Detroit, Leadership Next and Opal E. Event Planning to help develop an initiative increase the number of black male mentors in Detroit, MI. This initative is called the Mahogany Male Mentors (M3).
