As Founder and CEO of the Empowered Young Men, Hassan F. Johnson
understands the need for male role models in the lives of young
men. He was raised in a single-parent household and his mother
intently surrounded him with men from the community and kept him
active and focused on education through music. His community fathers
helped develop his foundation as a man.
A native of Dallas, TX, Hassan received his BS in Computer Information
Systems from Clark Atlanta University and will be obtaining his
MBA from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business starting
in the fall of 2008 concentrating in Finance and Entrepreneurship.
Before returning to school, Hassan was an IT Portfolio Manager
at Ford Motor Company and helped manage IT assets for Ford’s
Product Development Organization with a multi-million dollar application
portfolio with over 2,000 users in North America, South America,
Europe, Australia and Asia.
In Mr. Johnson’s four years at Ford Motor Company he helped
save millions of dollars through various IT initiatives and has
led several global initiatives to either cut cost or improve efficiency
for the company.
Mr. Johnson has an immense desire to increase the life chances
of young black men and The Empowered Young Men (EYM) is his vessel
to do so. The EYM’s mission is to increase the number of
African American male leaders who are encouraged, motivated, prepared
and empowered to innovate in and guide American industry, as well
as lead change in the African American community. Mr. Johnson
does not believe in the impossible, only challenging tasks that
require effective and strategic solutions.
Mr. Johnson also volunteers for the Detroit Area Pre-College
Engineering Program (DAPCEP), Habitat for Humanity, and Big Brothers
and Big Sisters.
